N-Tools

One portable Windows toolkit to diagnose, repair and document a PC.

Built for: The AME Group's engineers and service technicians

Amy, the help assistant, running checks on a website problem (sample data).
Amy, the help assistant, running checks on a website problem (sample data).

The problem

A technician on a client PC juggles many Windows consoles, remembered commands and a blank ticket to fill in afterwards. Risky fixes often lack a backup, and the evidence of what was done is gone by the time the ticket is written.

What I built

I built a single-file Windows app that puts checks, fixes, consoles and reference material in one place and records every action. It includes Amy, a plain-language help assistant, and writes the ticket note at the end of a session.

How it works

  1. Run N-Tools.exe from the PC or a USB stick.
  2. Pick a symptom, or tell Amy what is wrong.
  3. Checks report a clear result and how sure they are.
  4. Fixes apply only with consent, and risky changes are backed up first.
  5. On sign-out, the session record becomes a draft ticket note.
